¶ What’s this all about?
Just gathering bits and pieces here – mostly code snippets and stuff from projects I’ve worked on. One of the bigger ones (at least for me) is setting up Ubuntu Server on a 2018 Mac Mini.
I’m not a professional Linux administrator or power user, so some of this might seem pretty basic to experienced users. But for me, it has been and still is a fun and challenging project with a steep learning curve. And if any of this helps someone else who is stuck in similar situations – even better.

Hi, my name is Ralf. I spent over 25 years working in the advertising industry as a senior artworker, prepress operator, and retoucher. I’ve always been curious about how things work – diving into the technical side and figuring things out is just part of who I am.
Over the years, I’ve also worked as a system/network administrator, mostly on Mac-based setups. That gave me a taste of different operating systems – and eventually the idea to build a Linux server on my own. With some patience, trial and error and yes: lots of cursing and frustrating moments… but with a helpful companion called ChatGPT.
